Founded in 1209, The University of Cambridge is the fourth-oldest surviving university in the world, therefore it was a great pleasure to help this historic institution develop their main, university website.
Working closely with the British Council, BrightLemon successfully created one of the biggest global online communities in education.
As the world’s largest and leading professional body of management accountants, we were extremely excited to embark on a brand new project with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
Amnesty International depends on the active involvement of its members to help to put an end to human rights violations across the globe. They knew that their existing supporters were a connected bunch that could help inspire thousands of others to take action. Needless barriers to entry were stopping their members from doing this and so Amnesty International set about making some changes.
In partnership with the State of Mind manifesto for mental health, the NHS initiated a plan to reach out to the young people of London. MyHealthLondon had already commissioned the build for an health-focussed online community site aimed at adult Londoners. Then, after the success of the first one, they realised the benefits that a younger sister site, aimed at 12 to 25-year-olds, could bring.
Drupal software isn’t just a key focus for us, oh no no! Acquia provides open cloud hosting, developer tools and world class support for Drupal. So when they asked us to work with them on Drupal Commons - a ready-to-use solution for building online communities - how could we say no?
Did you know that the UK has almost 100 Local Enterprise Partnerships, Enterprise Zones and City Deals? Each one providing fantastic opportunities for foreign investment. The trouble is, until recently, global visibility of this wasn’t as good as it could be. UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) wanted a new online platform that would solve this challenge. Our brief included the need for a ‘one-stop-shop’ for potential foreign investors to find opportunities in the UK. Searchability? Translation? Localisation? Personalisation? It sounded right up our street - so we got to work!
With an alumni network of over 2000 qualified teachers, Teach First faced a growing demand for a better networking platform, and we were the perfect people for the job.
Business in the Community’s (BiTC) aim is to encourage organisations to create more sustainable communities by working together on social and environmental issues. Turbinegeneration is an international schools project – an annual commission that invites school and college students from across the world to combine ideas and create pieces inspired by exhibitions at Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall. Considering its international user base, it was essential that an online community was built in order for art to be shared and seen by all taking part.
As part of the Estate Management division, the Cambridge University Centre offers social facilities for graduate and research students, as well as University and College staff, alumni and their guests. However, the Centre’s website wasn’t providing its super clever/organised/busy students with a supportive enough online platform. So we came along with our (almost as) clever selves to help the Centre’s online presence match their offline facilities.
As one of the top universities in Saudi Arabia, our objective was to create a beautifully designed, easy to use, secure and scalable website to support the ongoing growth of the University of Dammam. Two of the key requirements were to make the site multilingual and mobile responsive. To launch the site in style, we were honoured to have Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Sa'ud officially launch the site, which was certainly a first for the team at BrightLemon.

We were extremely happy to team up with the Department of Education to deliver an online community for Shine 2009 - a national youth festival dedicated to celebrating the creative talents of young people everywhere.
Learning about the history of the natural world doesn’t have to be limited to Natural History Museum school trips (although we did love those outings - can’t resist a visit to those massive moving dinosaur models)! The Natural History Museum has plenty of online information hubs, including their Open Air Laboratories programme. In order to be kept up to date, OPAL’s education pages needed to be redesigned and re-themed, and we were chosen for the job.
Viacom, global media company and international host of some of the world’s most famous entertainment channels, receives a large number of requests for press information. They needed a site that journalists and external press representatives could use to access press releases and artwork with ease.
